My computer doesn’t want to read my SD card! My laptop will but I don’t have anything interesting enough to say about Animal Crossing for it to really be worth the hassle after all. Suffice it to say this is a really, really fucking fun game.
THE TOWN IS ALL ON ONE LEVEL? D: Why would they KEEP that?
Salix ? Hé hé ! Ça c’est du nom ! Et je m’y connais !
Okay so Animal Crossing talks a lot more naturally than Pokémon and I guess I’m going to have my work cut out for me. What I’m getting out of this line is something like: “Salix? Ha ha! Now there’s a name! And wouldn’t I know it!”
Just gonna tag all these #animal crossing because the tag’s probably getting flooded anyway and I doubt anyone specifically wants to block my AC posts but nobody else’s.
I just realized I’ll be crossing animals in French, too. Oh my god this is going to be awesome
In French, where the 3DS is supposed to say “Delete friend card”, it says “Delete this friend card” and it always takes me a few minutes before I give up and Google it and remember, oh, right, wonky translation. I always assume that option is to wipe your list and start over with a new friend code.
3DS friend code for reference

Oh I meant to attempt a simple abstract background again, oops
yip yap
For a year 95% of what I drew was charcoal or pencil on paper and 99% stuff/people in front of me, so I’m glad I’ve been able to switch over to None Of Those Things fairly well. I’m still a little inconsistent because I’m still trying to settle on something I really like and playing around with MyPaint and all but I pretty much felt like I was going to have to start all over with critter fanart so I’m glad I haven’t.
(EDIT: I edited a little background in but it didn’t update on the reblog so if anyone was going to reblog this: go to the original post and do it)
The same thing applies to video games: I’d really like to buy everything digitally, and not have to wait around until I can get to a brick-and-mortar store, and not have to keep track of a separate cartridge/disc for each game, and be a little better on the enivronment. But with all the restrictions aimed at antipiracy that come with basically every digital download platform, I’m not really confident that I’d still be able to play those games in ten years. I mean, I still play old Game Boy and NES games — my tastes don’t change a whole lot, they just expand. Once I like something I’m probably never going to get bored of it for good. So I buy physical cartridges and lament.
I haven’t really bought any music in years and my music folder is 75% full of stuff I only kind of like now. I do weed out anything I absolutely don’t care about anymore but the whole thing is just — well yes I do like all this but it’s not representative of what I like at all and I find myself just bringing stuff up on YouTube a lot.
I’m pretty sure a lot of it is that I still buy CDs even though all I do is rip them and then stack them with the others and subconsciously that feels like a total pain. Unfortunately I’m a huge nerd and there isn’t really any other way to get a lot of things in a lossless format.
I don’t pretend I can hear the difference or anything. All I do with the lossless files is turn them into oggs (basically like mp3s, but better from a computer nerd standpoint, and not patented) and stash the original files away. The benefit is that then if some shiny new format appears in ten years I can bring the lossless files back out and turn my entire collection into this new format, whereas if I bought mp3s and did that the loss would actually start to be noticeable.
But like I said, waiting for CDs from Amazon is a total pain, and ripping them is a bit of a nuisance too, so I’m stuck with a music library that 90% draws from the intersection of what I liked when I was seventeen and what I like now.
A few days ago I introduced Andrew to Kaki King and he just up and bought Dreaming of Revenge and I felt a little surge of jealousy that he could just do that.
i’m gonna get it for my birthday!
Awesome!! I haven’t really played Animal Crossing since the beginning of highschool when I’d sneak my DS to bed and play Wild World with H-land and— oh my god that was nearly eight years ago how the fuck did that happen
But yeah I didn’t realize how much actual game there was to it back then. I’d dig up people’s flowers as a joke because I didn’t think flowers affected anything. I didn’t realize you could actually affect your relationships with neighbours either. Basically I guess I thought once you paid your house off for the last time it was just a sandbox?
This time I get to be excited about the whole playing around with friends thing AND an actual game and I want it to be a party!!

EDIT: Can someone tell me if this works or not
