am i allowed to ship my sylveons or is that, like, not allowed
yes that is very allowed omg
POKEDDEXY day two: favourite Dark-type
I can’t believe how chubby Hydreigon is omg. How am I supposed to take this thing seriously as a being of destruction when it’s shaped like a Latias only less airplaney.
Once again I would’ve liked to clean this up but today was busy and it’s midnight.
I accidentally posted this here first so I may as well take the opportunity to give you all a periodic reminder I have an art blog.
Where the shit did November go? My Gourgeist was a month ago oh my god.
My tablet understands what angle I’m holding the pen at, and I only just realized. What the hell, that’s awesome. I’m pretty sure I’ve been subconsciously taking advantage of it for a while, though, because that’s something I do with real paper, but now that I know, that’s going to be a huuuuge help.
I just measured this Gourgeist and it’s 40 cm tall, while even Small Gourgeist is 70 cm. I made a Smaller-Than-Small Gourgeist. A Tiny Gourgeist.
“#i never SAW THIS #zhorken this is amazing”
uv were you just randomly looking at my art blog omg
I don’t know why it’s happening now, though. I mean, yeah, half the front page is taken up by commits with my name on them right now, but I don’t think anyone looks at those. I’ve taken up half the front page before and nobody really seems to notice.
In the past, very few people have realized veekun is more than just Eevee, but all of a sudden, the rest of us are getting some recognition and I feel so cool.
Also, I gave a few TM corrections to Pokémon Showdown (Smogon’s simulator) and right away the lead dev gave me push access so I could make further changes without going through him, and whipped me up a script to dump their data to JSON so that I could sync their data back to veekun. Just now I realized I’ve also been made an op in the #showdown IRC channel, and I doubt I’m ever even going to do anything op-related in there, but I feel so important wow.
Fennekin - veekun -
oh dang looks like veekun learned about XY
THANK YOU magical and zhorken (and everyone from pokémon showdown, project pokémon, smogon, et al.) who did all the actual work while my head was in the clouds!
lmk if anything is totally busted
meanwhile i will soon get back to working on my amazing veekun overhaul that will blow your mind and also never be finished
n.b. if the sprite box looks wonky or new Pokémon’s icons aren’t appearing, force-refresh; you’ve probably got the old CSS/icon sheet cached.
Anyway yes I am amazing and everyone should love me.
DO. NOT. DO. THIS.
Seriously, do not do this. In no manner of speaking should you do this.
That is a photo of a glow stick in a Mountain Dew bottle.
Baking soda and peroxide creates a corrosive, and adding it to a carbonated drink will cause it to explode. It eats through solid concrete.
DO NOT DO THIS.
left out all the annoying happy responses to give you this PSA
According to Snopes, actually, it won’t glow, but it won’t blow up either. (There are other, real ways to make bottle bombs, though, so do be careful.)

TODAY, ON “THAT’S NOT WHAT I EXPECTED”
canon pokemon sizes are fucking bullshit
To be fair, Dratini is probably 5’10” long in its entirety. And Ponyta and Blitzle would have their height measured at the shoulder. So.
this is a thing i want to address in the future, by inventing a rough mapping of pokédex height to actual dimensions based on shape
I don’t get how most of these are surprising, though! Other than Charizard and the ones measured some other way, all of these seem fine to me. Like, were people expecting Crobat to be the size of an actual bat? And look at Meowth next to Jesse and James; knee-height is about right. There are much wonkier heights in the Pokédex.
(Salamence is even shorter than Charizard, Kecleon is supposedly waist-high, Furret is massive even if you assume its tail counts… Rotom is supposedly 30 cm in all of its forms — and yes, separate forms do often get separate heights and weights. Just… not Rotom?)
EDIT: Also Eevee I hope you don’t mean the “shape” groupings because those are even more arbitrary, like look at "humanoid" and "upright" (which are like 70% of all the Pokémon together)
EDIT: A tail. The difference between “humanoid” and “upright” is whether it has a tail. Blissey gets a human-shaped icon, but Chansey gets a dino-shaped icon. Because Chansey has a tail. (Musharna is also humanoid, which is what the fuck either way, and Lickilicky is humanoid even though it has a tail?)
it snew today
It snew here, too, so I told Mom and she just didn’t get it. She thought I somehow really didn’t know the past tense of “snow”. Thanks for the vote of confidence, Mom.
When attacking prey, [Talonflame] can reach speeds of up to 310 mph. It finishes its prey off with a colossal kick. —
I’ve been a giant ball of stress ever since Pokémon X and Y came out for a few reasions
I feel guilty playing video games when I still haven’t found a job, but I’ve been playing it a lot anyway
There are like five billion semi-connected veekun/Smogon data-gathering pursuits I keep spreading myself thin on
Between #1 and #2, I’ve been focusing on Pokémon and not working on anything and I just feel
I reaaaaally need to draw. The only times I haven’t been stressed in the past few weeks are when I’ve gone to figure drawing. Whenever I get into my art I feel so in control and on track. My art has, like, potential. Whoah.
what the frick is up with the day/night cycle in x and y
i still don’t … understand it
It works as you’d expect, but it’s a little clunky about the whole “evening” thing, and near Lumiose it just never really gets dark. Extreme light pollution I guess.
